On Global Running Day we can announce that we have secured a much-coveted place in next year’s edition of the world-famous London Marathon through the charity ballot.
This is the third time that we have been successful in the ballot, having previously been one of the 500 charities drawn in both 2016 and 2018 (we forgot to enter the ballot in 2020 and you cannot enter the year after being successful).
Who knows yet whether an event that brings together tens of thousands of runners and millions of spectators will be permitted to go ahead – even in April next year – given the social distancing measures in place in response to the Covid pandemic but nevertheless we will be opening up an application process for this place later in the year.
Charity places do not come cheap – this one will cost us around £450 – so we will be looking for a participant who can raise at least a few times that amount. Previous lucky recipients of a place with African Promise – Jerad Leigh in 2016 and David Harkin in 2018 – raised around £2,000 and £3,000 respectively.
If you think this could be you in 2021 and you would be interested in taking on this challenge then please get in touch and we will send you further details once they are available.
