African Promise to benefit from Black Friday giving back

African Promise has once again been chosen by Childrensalon as one of their seasonal charity partners and is set to receive a much-needed donation ahead of the new school year in January.

Childrensalon is the world’s largest online destination for quality childrenswear and, as is their tradition, on Black Friday this year they will donate 10% of all sales to charities working to protect children around the world, with proceeds shared equally between African Promise and another UK charity, Toybox.

We are proud to continue our partnership with Childrensalon having received a generous donation of £50,000 from Black Friday sales last year.

Their support could not be coming at a better time. Our limited resources are under enormous pressure in the face of rising costs and the demands of supplying food for 3,000 daily meals, subsidising the salaries of 75+ teachers and support staff, and continuing to make investments in new and existing infrastructure. A donation of this potential size is what we desperately need to supplement the funds we hope to raise over the festive season including from our Christmas Carol Service and BigGive Christmas Challenge campaign. Please consider supporting us by shopping at Childrensalon.com on Friday 25th November.

All funds received will go towards our on-going activities at a time when rising cost of living and a severe, prolonged drought is presenting serious challenges to schools, children and the wider communities in which we work. The funds will also take us a step closer to the completion of our £250,000+ redevelopment of Mkamenyi Primary which is now in its fourth year.

Last year on Black Friday, Childrensalon also supported our work with a generous donation which we used to introduce the lunch programme to our eighth partner school at Mkamenyi. “Giving back” on Black Friday is part of their wider Comfort and Joy Campaign celebrating the whole festive season as explained by their Head of CSR, Dana Artz, who says: “We want people to know that – for us – the holidays aren’t just about shopping. And who knows, maybe by using Black Friday to shine a special light on these amazing charities, we’ll spark a conversation and even inspire some of our customers as well.”

We look forward to bringing you news later in the month of how much has been raised by Childrensalon and their customers but for now please keep an eye out on our social channels for further updates.
